If you pay for the wedding, you get to talk all you want

I went to the wedding of one of my best friend’s daughter’s yesterday (And no- I don’t want to talk about what that implies about my age).

I am cynical. I think we all know that by now. But being part of the day when two young people in love start their life and share their faith – it is refreshing. There is a lot of stupid in the world and a 12 hour vacation from stupid was nice.

Because it was a Catholic ceremony – I obviously had a lot of time to think (and sit, and stand and sit and stand and sit. And sing.). Two things were apparent: Love. A parent’s love for their child is unbridled, unbounded and unlimited. Forgiveness. Even amongst the most religious, it isn’t easy and it’s not something we can take for granted. So today. I’m working on it. (Starting with completion engineers…)

Also. Some people are bad dancers but they love it so who cares; Sweet Caroline is the best wedding dance song ever; and the “golden rule” is best applied to weddings: (s)he who pays the gold, makes the rules and gets the microphone as long as they want!
