I love teachers. But they exist for students.

“If the school is closed, the money should follow the student so the parents and families are in control of their own decisions,” Trump said. “So I would like the money to go to the parents of the student.”

It’s the best idea I’ve heard. I strongly support public schools but I support students more. They are the future. And if school administrators are electing that children should stay home, the money that usually follows kids into schools should follow them to the parents instead and let them choose what is best for their child.

I know parents that are already considering pulling their kids, hiring a teacher and running school circa 1930 in a house environment, driven by technology which is available at the touch of a button. I believe the price per student is $6,456 per student, in Colorado as an example. Stimulus! That would pay for a lot of online options for students with programs who actually do this for real, instead of pretending to be online, like public schools are attempting.

Schools need a full revamp to reflect how far technology has come. That’s a real solution that doesn’t involve camping on the governor’s lawn.

I’m all for home school. And the money should follow. Maybe someone could lease downtown office space and start a communal one.
