Clay Gaspar is WPX’s company president, chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors.

He values the benefits of innovation, data analysis and testing new technology in the oilfield. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Clay has a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in petroleum and geosciences engineering from The University of Texas.

He has worked for Newfield Exploration, Anadarko Petroleum and Mewbourne Oil in a number of technical and leadership roles.Clay has more than 20 years of experience, both onshore and offshore and around the world.

He also oversees WPX’s ESG reporting.
