Family Road Trip
Ya-hoooo! The annual family drive from Denver to Calgary afforded me lots of time for thinking and for listening to my favorite podcasts and movies. While 17 hours is a long time in a car, it’s one of my favorite family traditions.
Some things I thought about:
- I think “The Big Short” is the best, most educational movie I know. If you haven’t watched it- you must. Whenever I feel too optimistic, I watch it to re-ground my pessimism.
- I saw a 200 wind turbine “farm” in northern Montana that was experiencing 0 wind. It was also cloudy and raining so there was no sun. I don’t know how often that happens but – I’m quite sure Billings, MT still needed electricity.
- I appreciate Robert Kalbouss who is on the opposite side of many energy thoughts that I have but I always enjoy his thoughtful comments and perspective on energy. We don’t have to agree, but thoughtful, respectful discussion is a far better way to go than the example we see on TV and in politics these days.
- Vivian Krause is doing some really good research on foreign influence into the Canadian energy industry. I can’t summarize it all now – but it’s worth looking up.
- I saw a lot of cows. Many, if not all, were outstanding in their field.
