Family Road Trip

Ya-hoooo! The annual family drive from Denver to Calgary afforded me lots of time for thinking and for listening to my favorite podcasts and movies. While 17 hours is a long time in a car, it’s one of my favorite family traditions.

Some things I thought about:

  1. I think “The Big Short” is the best, most educational movie I know. If you haven’t watched it- you must. Whenever I feel too optimistic, I watch it to re-ground my pessimism.
  2. I saw a 200 wind turbine “farm” in northern Montana that was experiencing 0 wind. It was also cloudy and raining so there was no sun. I don’t know how often that happens but – I’m quite sure Billings, MT still needed electricity.
  3. I appreciate Robert Kalbouss who is on the opposite side of many energy thoughts that I have but I always enjoy his thoughtful comments and perspective on energy. We don’t have to agree, but thoughtful, respectful discussion is a far better way to go than the example we see on TV and in politics these days.
  4. Vivian Krause is doing some really good research on foreign influence into the Canadian energy industry. I can’t summarize it all now – but it’s worth looking up.
  5. I saw a lot of cows. Many, if not all, were outstanding in their field.
It’s not exactly windy today
