2020: More Hypocrisy

I’ve been reading more Canadian news of late as our neighbours to the North gear up for a national election that pits economic potential against climate change and subsidies. Needless to say- the latter is likely to win on Monday but that’s not the point of this post (Sadly ‘right’ is less important than ‘electable’)

BC is a beautiful province and the California of Canada. That gov’t has been very active in stopping Alberta from building a pipeline across BC and thus preventing it from exporting otherwise landlocked oil to Asia. The stated reason: concerns about the impact of oil on climate change.

Of course- there are ironies. That BC fought an Alberta law that would allow it to stop shipping gasoline to BC in response to their objections to the pipeline (BC won and so continues to get gasoline made from oil). And add that BC imports coal from the US and uses their ports to export it is all the richer.

But now…to help the forestry industry, they are increasing shipments of wood pellets to Japan. You know what wood pellets are for? Yep. Power generation. I mean-Come on!

Like me or hate me-you know my opinions.  And I can live with you disagreeing with me, but I can’t coexist with hypocrisy. So BC, I have added you to my Wall of Shame.
